There Is Nothing Easy About Motherhood
There is nothing easy about motherhood.
Yes, it’s beautiful and the biggest blessing. But it also comes with challenges.
There are moments filled with love, laughter, and connection.
There are also moments that feel heavy, overwhelming, and exhausting.
That’s the part that isn’t always talked about enough.
That’s why, when you’re a working mom, whether building a business or working a 9–5 job, it can feel exhausting. It can feel like we’re being split in two.
Not to mention the guilt that comes with it.
We start feeling like it’s not enough.
Like we are not doing enough for our children, family, spouse, employer, business, etc.
And no matter how much we do, it can still feel like something is being left behind.
It’s Not Just About Time Management
The truth is that being a working mom isn’t about “time management.”
It’s not just about schedules, routines, or planning out your day perfectly.
It’s about the constant mental pull we feel toward success and the constant guilt that we’re not doing enough in a certain area.
It’s thinking about work while being with your child and thinking about your child while trying to focus on work.
When we feel that way, we start feeling like we’re letting everyone down.
What I’ve Been Learning as a Working Mom
Here’s what I’ve been learning as a working mom, building a business, while raising my little one…
It’s not that we are doing it wrong and it’s not that we’re failing.
It’s that, as working moms, we care so much and so deeply.
We care about being present.
We care about providing.
We care about building something meaningful.
And holding all of that at once can feel like a lot.
Because of that, I started to be intentional about being present.
Being Intentional Reduces the Mental Overload
Being intentional takes away from the mental overload.
Not by doing more but by being fully present in what you’re already doing.
Let me give you an example:
- When it’s time for me to manage a Pinterest account, I’ll be intentional about it. I’ll fully focus on it during my child’s nap. During that time, I’m not trying to do everything at once. I’m focused on that one task.
- When I want to play with my son, I put my phone somewhere where I can’t reach it. I set apart that time (30 minutes, an hour, etc.) to focus on him and give him my undivided attention.
In those moments, I’m not thinking about everything else that needs to get done.
I’m just there.
You Don’t Have to Choose
As moms, we love our children so deeply, so we have to be reminded that it’s okay to want more for ourselves.
Wanting a career, building a business, or having goals does not take away from the love you have for your children.
If anything, it shows them what growth, courage, and persistence look like.
So you don’t have to choose between motherhood or career.
You are allowed to hold both and you certainly don’t have to do it alone. 🤍
If you’ve been feeling stretched, overwhelmed, or like you’re not doing enough…
Maybe you’re not doing it wrong.Maybe you just care deeply about both. That matters.
